UPDATE: We are expanding. Our chapter has made a few changes in the last little bit. We are now planning to cover the entire state to allow all the people we are coming across to help organize into a better support group. And who knows, usually the more people the more fun.

Not that you don’t already have tons to do in your life, but a group of us have decided to find something that is more family oriented and away from the mainstream of activities to build up our spirits. We have started the process to stand-up a local chapter of the International Dutch Oven Society (IDOS) and would like you and your family to join us in this adventure.

The International Dutch Oven Society (IDOS) is a non-profit organization with the goals to preserve and promote the skills and art of Dutch oven cooking. From its humble beginnings in the Rocky Mountains, IDOS has grown to its current status as the largest and most productive group of black pot enthusiasts in the world. Our motto is “Good Food, Good Friends, and Good Fun.” (www.idos.com)

We have organized our own chapter in Montana for the purpose of sharing the art of Dutch oven cooking and as an avenue that allows people to gather together with good friends, cook some good food, and have some good fun. We want to create an atmosphere that makes our current members and any potential members feel like while they belong to a local chapter and that they also belong to an international organization that extends beyond their geographical location and that each of us could travel to many different places, and eventually around the world, and still have “Good Friends, Good Food, and Good Fun.”

To join the chapter you do not have to be a member of the IDOS but we highly suggest you do so. They have much to offer in the waqy of information and helpful techniques. Use the application below and mail it to the address indicated for the chapter. We will put you in our records and we will see that your membership dues get to the IDOS. Come join us to learn about the way our ancestors cooked and make some lasting friendships along the way.

Would you like more details or have some questions about this organization? Contact the chapter officers either by phone or click on the email address to send us a note:
